Nicolas Dorval-Bory and Raphaël Bétillon’s exhibition, Paysages en Exil, explores the phenomenon of ‘wandering plants’.

Here is a video of Paysages en Exil (Landscapes in Exile), an installation by Nicolas Dorval-Bory and Raphaël Bétillon next to the Hospital de La Grave in Toulouse, which took visitors on an experimental journey through worldly phenomena.

Based on gardener Gilles Clément’s description of wandering plants, Dorval-Bory and Bétillon created a greenhouse along the length of the hospital, which invited visitors to participate in the journey of a seedling. Upon entering, people were encouraged to randomly select a medicinal seedling from one of five continents. Continuing their journey through the greenhouse, over a mist-covered footbridge, they were welcomed by a garden where the seedling could be planted.
