Stand For Turnbull & Associés By Randja Architecture

By limiting their material choice and focusing on a spatial design gesture, Randja have created a cohesive representation of their client - Turnbull & Associés - at the recent SIMI trade show at the Palais des Congrès in Paris.

Driven by the objective of conveying the different business aspects of Turnbull & Associés (monitoring, auditing and management of property), Randja decided to focus on wood as the primary building material for their stand at the recent SIMI trade show. Wood in the form of beams and brackets embodies the building process; the thread which runs through Turnbull & Associés’ work.

As the company also sell and monitor supply chain storage spaces, the stacking of wood alludes to the storage process used in their locations before goods are shipped out. This effect highlights the true nature of the wood as a building and storage material, allowing moments where the beams move beyond the constraints of the ‘wall’ and jut out to hold a vase for decorative effect. Furthermore, the blocks of wood varying in height create a three-dimensional wall texture reminiscent of the modern city landscape, and the bold white and black graphic elements make reference to construction drawings and logistics.

The stand was constructed from seven different sizes of wooden planks sawed into different lengths and joined with a special glue. The project was fully realised by a specialised carpenter before being transported to and assembled at the show.
