Luminous Jewels By Marc Mann
Fireflies

Marc Mann combined his favourite materials, glass beads and diodes, to create a series of luminous jewellery.

The combination of flexible spring steel with ancient glass beads and light emitting diodes (LEDs) resulted in jewellery with a lighting function. Rather than using precious stones or metals, the collection features antique glass from past centuries.

Called jeweLIGHTs, the lighting series exists of two designs: fireflies and disorder.
- Fireflies is a dancing swarm on the head, with red LEDs placed randomly on spring steel.
- Disorder is less prominent with tiny old seed beads on steel rings. Both to wear as necklace or headdress, with or without illumination.

The illumination underscores the historical character of the glass beads which were found on the banks of the Elbe River.
