FuenteYfuente Sunrise Store Interior

Swiss twins fuenteYfuente created this interior (and furniture) for Sunrise in Geneva.

Sunrise telecom is a provider in Switzerland. The firm knocked on the door of fuenteYfuente for their latest shop interior in Geneva. And of course as corporate lingo would have it, the phone shop was not going to be just a shop but an ‘entertainment centre’. Thilo Fuente teamed up with fellow Swiss industrial designers Anna Blattert and Daniel Gafner for the interior architecture and furniture design. Graphic artist Pixelpunk was asked to create the graphic concept for the walls and ceilings in order to create the new selling environment for Sunrise.

fuenteYfuente was asked to aim for a young target audience, to experiment with alternative materials in retail design and to come up with fresh ideas in terms of functionality. Fuente and his team did the interior architecture and designed the store from A-Z and used among other things technics MK2 turntable-covers as display cases.

We find the result to be refreshing in the sense that, as far as we can make out, the interior is devoid of Sunrise's corporate colours. All accessories and furniture look sturdy and tough, just what the young gaming crowd requires. One thing: the word bland does spring to mind as the store does not hold any visual or graphic surprises. It's all very proper, it's all very...Swiss.
